Jenny Ustick appointed Interim MFA Director
Dear School of Art Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students:
On June 29 Dean Probst announced the appointment of Prof. Joe Girandola as Interim Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at DAAP. After consultation with Dean Probst and Prof. Girandola, I invited Assistant Professor Jenny Ustick to serve as Interim Coordinator of Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program in School of Art from August 15, 2018 – August 14, 2019. I am pleased to announce that Prof. Ustick has accepted this interim position. Prof. Ustick earned an MFA from DAAP School of Art in 2005. In academic year 2016/17 she was reappointed as Assistant Professor of Practice for a five year term that begins in Fall 2018. She has served as coordinator of the School of Art Foundations Program since academic year 2014/15, working with fellow fine art faculty to refine that program to serve the needs of our first year students as we transitioned to a co-operative education curriculum. She will continue to serve as coordinator of Foundations, providing an understanding of our fine art graduate students as both teachers and artists. Prof. Ustick has an active international record of creative activity that includes the design and execution of public murals, as well as exhibitions, film screenings and presentations at academic conferences. She practices as an individual artist and as a member of two artists collectives known as the Bombshells and MOTCBR. In Summer 2018 she earned a residency at Graniti Murales in Sicily. In Summer 2017 she was resident at Proyecto Palimipsesto, an extension of the Proyecto ‘ace Residency in Buenos Aires. Her most recent mural was commissioned by 21c Museum Hotel and BLDG and executed with Kiik Create of Brooklyn, NY during Summer 2018 on the northern exterior of 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati.
